Running Inspiration

I just wanted to take a second and share a song that I am totally obsessed with when I run… it makes excruciating turn into exhilarating :). I heard it for the first time the other night when I borrowed my husband’s iPhone to run with (he had more music on his). It was really really cold that night, and this song pumped me up to run so much faster than usual. It was awesome.

I love making a memory like that with a song – running is the best way to do this. The first time I ever heard Colbie Caillat was when my family spent the week on Pawley’s Island and I had just downloaded her cd to run with. I had just gotten to where I could run for an hour at a time, so I was super motivated to stick to my schedule – I even ran in the rain! Now whenever I hear “One Fine Wire” I am overwhelmed with the memories of running in the sultry summer rain, smelling the ocean and watching those beautiful old Carolina beach houses drift by.

This song is from the new Coldplay album, Mylo Xyloto. I am going to try to upload the video from YouTube, but if it doesn’t work, check it out for yourself – its the best running song ever! (At least for me).

Share your own favorite running song! I use songs as motivation to stick to my running schedule – if I do really good for a week, I reward myself with buying a new song on iTunes for the next week. Pretty effective, let me tell you! So comment with songs that have been #gamechangers for your runs! I would love to check them out!

  1. My top two running buddies this summer were “Everybody Loves Me” (OneRepublic) and “Won't Turn Back” (Needtobreathe). Every time I hear them now I think about those wonderfully muggy summer days I ran my little heart out this summer:) Agreed, Colbie Caillat's fun to run to as well – “I do” and “Like Yesterday” from her new cd are great….and yes, you got me hooked on “Like Yesterday.”
